Maternity and Paternity Leave Act 2020 Pakistan

The Maternity and Paternity Leave Act 2020 has been passed on 18th May 2023 by the National Assembly of Pakistan. The Bill had earlier been passed by the Senate of Pakistan.

Under the law, a female employee may take these leaves for a total of 03 times during her employment with an establishment. In the first instance it is to be granted for 180 days, 2nd instance 120 days and the third instance 90 days. These leaves are fully paid.

A male employee will be granted paternity leave for 30 days. These leaves are also granted for a total of 3 instances during the term of service. These leaves too are fully paid.

This law is only applicable to Federal Capital.
