In a major win for us today, we received a verdict in favor of employees of a large international hotel chain we were representing in a criminal complaint. The mater stemmed from a harassment case in which we had already successfully represented the clients before a tribunal for the same. A fresh criminal compliant had been filed under section 22-A of the Criminal Code for the institution of a criminal case however we were able to convince the learned judge otherwise.
Our arguments circled around the fact that the matter was purely an employment matter gone bad and as such could not be treated as a criminal complaint. Successful production of evidence and arguments which validated our point of view finally swayed the verdict in the favor of our client.
Employment matters in Pakistan can often traverse into the criminal jurisdiction and hence it helps to have expertise in both areas.
